Standard subway car After the First World War, the newly founded Deutsche Reichsbahn took over a large number of passenger car types, which usually had a wooden body. In order to simplify maintenance, standardised carriages with metal bodies were developed, which also massively increased safety. For the branch line types, the Reichsbahn took its cue from the predecessor designs and procured the usual two-axle through coaches with open platforms. At the beginning of the 1930s, there was a further modernisation push with the introduction of closed platforms and welded car bodies. These vehicles remained with the DB until the 1960s, often as railcar sidecars. A few examples have survived - among others at the Bayerischer Localbahnverein and at the IG 3Seenbahn in the Black Forest. All coaches have LED interior lighting and current-carrying couplings as standard. The built-in current-conducting close couplings can be used to supply the wagon set with current via the 78 1002 steam locomotive (item 39782).
